Staycation Stop #5 - Peavine
Friday morning Mary and I loaded up the Jetta wagon again and headed East towards Reno, NV to prepare for the Peavine Challenge DH race. The Peavine Challenge is the second event of the Sierra Cup series, a sequence of races that includes dh, xc, and super d competitions. The series is an official USA Cycling event and allows racers to acquire points and possibly qualify for the National Championship Finals of which the gravity races are scheduled to be held September 23-25 in Beech Mtn, North Carolina.
On our way up the Sierras, we did a quick shuttle-ride pit stop in Auburn to shred some red dirt and then jetted to Truckee, CA for an amazing dinner and a good nights sleep. After a huge breakfast Saturday morning we drove down to Reno to explore and practice the race course. We were pleasantly rewarded with some fun and challenging rock sections. Check them out in Mary's practice run:
However, today we woke up to some unfortunate news... Race cancelled due to the downpour of rain last night..... so we are off for a riding adventure in Truckee..... stay tuned kids :).
