Announcing Shine Santa Cruz's monthly ride on the 29th of June. Shine Riders Company strives to: illuminate and inspire female mountain bikers, create opportunities in the bike industry for them, and to connect members with others in the ever-growing Women's Freeride Movement. Whether you are a racer, freerider, coach, photographer, writer, film-maker, weekend warrior, newbie, or just checkin' out nature, Shine Riders resonates with your luminescence.
Partnering with Joh Rathbun—a freelance action sports writer and pro downhiller with almost 20 years of mountain biking experience—Shine is bringing you a co-ed day at the newly-opened segments of the Flow trail, in beautiful Soquel Demonstration Forest. Joh Rathbun said, “We're trying something new this month—we're opening up the ride to men—with the caveat that they bring a gal with them. Huge props to the Mountain Bikers of Santa Cruz (MboSC), who also have raised the funds and built this trail! With their help— we have legal yet fun singletrack in Santa Cruz County. I'm stoked to ride the Flow Trail!”
While this is an any-age and most-abilities ride, please be prepared for some real riding on the mountain. Beginners with a great attitude and are self-sufficient are welcome. Please be at least 12 years old, with an adult, and be prepared for a challenging mountain bike ride aimed at intermediate to advanced riders. Bring enough water & food for the day and necessary accouterments as needed. Helmets and flat pedals are required, and knee pads and elbow guards are strongly suggested. This is a no-drop ride, with the emphasis on having fun. So be prepared to have fun in a low-pressure yet boisterous ride with Shine. Please RSPV at http://www.meetup.com/Shine-Santa-Cruz/ . We hope to see you then!
